DONE AND DONE
On Monday we delivered the second LeapFrog prototype to the fiberglass shop. It took us a lot longer to get it done than I expected, but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
So now our part is done, and it's up to the fiberglass guys to build the mold and start mass producing this chubby little guy.

THE LAST NIGHT
My Dad and I have been working on the second frog prototype for two months now, and tonight was the last night. We still have a few details to clean up in the morning, but by tomorrow afternoon, the frog will be off to the fiberglass shop to be molded and duplicated many times over. I can't wait to see a bunch of these guys sitting on the street!

LEAPRECHAUN UNVEILED
After getting hit with sixteen inches of snow yesterday, a really nice crowd showed up today (St. Patrick's Day) for the unveiling of the Bill Figurski's "Leaprechaun." This isn't the first frog to be completed, but it is the first one to hit the streets and be on public display.
This was really fun for me to see. The crowd (especially the kids) loved this fantastic frog and now they're looking forward to many more LeapFrog unveilings throughout this spring and summer.
Check out the newspaper article here.

MOORE ON WASHINGTON
So I haven't been to Washington in a month, and yesterday was my first day back in the office. As I was about to leave for work, I considered leaving my camera behind, because I just didn't feel like carrying the extra bag. But I know better than that. The day I leave my camera behind is the day the big one hits. Well, as it turned out, we had yet another celebrity sighting today. Michael Moore was out in front of the building with a small film crew. My friend Bill (who's the one who came and got me when he spotted Mr. Moore) gave a pretty good description of the scene here.
Several of us from the office ran out to see what was going on, and without really asking, we just gathered around him for a quick group shot. This one will definitely be in next year's department calendar.
Within minutes, Secret Service arrived and asked a few questions. The Saudi Arabian embassy is right across from our office, and apparently they are very sensitive about anyone taking photos or video of the embassy (which Moore's crew had already done). All was well though. I've said it before - there's just never a dull day around here.

LEAP DAY
Sunday was Leap Day (or is it Leap Year Day) and that marked the kickoff event for the 2004 Erie outdoor art project, LeapFrog Erie. It was a big event for artists and sponsors and we were treated to the unveiling of the first three frogs to be completed. We won't see these frogs (and all the others) on the streets until the spring and summer, but seeing these three really got everyone excited for what I think will be a fantastic summer event. There's a nice article about the event here.
Meanwhile, back at the shop, my dad and I are still plugging away at the prototype for the second frog design. It still has a ways to go, but we'll be done soon and it will be off to the fiberglass shop. I however, am due back in DC for the dreaded "Quarter End Crunch" at the Advisory Board. That's never a fun time, but as long as I don't end up working another 26 hour day, I'll be fine. Besides, I've been away for a while, and I really miss the gang.
