HANNAH

I spent the weekend in Pennsylvania, helping my dad with a big sculpture project he's trying to finish. On Saturday morning before going to his studio, we took my parents dog, Hannah to the beach. She's not terribly interested in swimming, but if we would let her, she's spend the entire day playing with dead fish.

JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE

Walking back from lunch this afternoon, I found myself at a press conference on the front steps of the Watergate, where I work. I believe the lawyer for Chandra Levy's parents was asking for Chandra's remains to be returned to her family. There's truly never a dull moment around here.

GASSIN' UP THE WAGON
I don't know why this seemed so strange when I saw it. Obviously every vehicle has to stop for gas every now and then, but I just never thought I'd pull up next to a Hearse at a gas station. What's even stranger is that I saw this Hearse just a day after I had moved into a new place, and I couldn't help but think about how many boxes I could have fit in the back of that thing.

CATWOMAN

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this poor cat is not having a good time. Believe me, it was hot out on the mall in Washington where I saw these two. It was certainly not the kind of day when you'd want to be out in the sun wearing a fur coat. Growing up I had several cats, and none of them would have gone for this. When I saw this cat, I could only think that at that very moment, it must have been plotting some kind of painful revenge.

WEDDING BELLS

I've known my friend and roommate Trisha since the first grade. Over the years, we've been paling around and have had a lot of great times together, including an insane cross-country road trip which I documented in 'The First Day of Autumn.' Well, yesterday was Trisha's special day. What a beautiful bride she was. The ceremony was perfect and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. I couldn't be happier for her and Paul. It's the end of an era, but also the beginning of what I know will be a beautiful life for them together. Congratulations, you two. Take good care of each other.

THE 4TH OF JULY

Is there any better place in the country to celebrate the 4th of July than right here in Washington, DC? I was invited to watch the fireworks on the roof of a building right across from the White House. We could clearly see the White House, the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. What a view! The 4th is such a special day, but tomorrow is even more special... it's Trisha's wedding day!

CELTIC ROCK

Last night I went with Geoff and his crew to see three Celtic bands. It was a beautiful outdoor concert featuring the Young Dubliners, Seven Nations and Great Big Sea. If you haven't heard any of these bands before, check them out. They put on a great show.

On the lawn directly in front of us was a little kid dancing and swinging a plastic glow-rope. Much to my delight, this made for some cool time-exposed photos.
