FEAST YOUR EYES

This week, I helped Brian build and paint the set for the Canterbury Feast which opens tonight. Brian deserves all of the credit, because the set was his design and he did most of the work. I just helped out for a couple of nights, but it was great fun.

I had a little car trouble yesterday. It was the end of a nice warm day, and I was just leaving work. The sun had heated up my car pretty well, so I started rolling the windows down to let the heat out and suddenly there was a big thump sound to my right. The driver's side window must have slipped off of the track, because it dropped like a rock down inside the door, and wouldn't roll back up.

Great. This is just ducky...

So this morning, I had to leave my car in my garage and get a ride to work because it's supposed to rain today, and continue all weekend. This is seriously going to suck because I doubt I'll be able to get it fixed before Monday. So, on the advice of Hillary, I put in a call to my insurance company to see if they'd cover a rental car for the weekend. The person I talked to misunderstood what I was asking, and before I knew it, she had connected me with someone from a glass repair company. Once I explained what was going on, I got a nice "we only repair broken glass speach." Hello! I know that! I just want to know if a rental car is covered by my insurance! Oy... I'll try again later this morning.

COLORFULLY CLOSE

This is one of my favorite Leapfrogs. The title and style reflect the work of artist, Chuck Close. The frog is called "Colorfully Close" and was created by a group of advanced art students at Fort LeBoeuf High School. This one is proof that you don't have to do any sculpting to make a fabulous looking frog. Oh, and in case you are wondering, yes, that is a small dead animal on the sidewalk.

PONDER THIS

Here's a new frog that's sure to be very popular. This Harry Potter frog (Harry Pond-er) is very well sculpted, especially the broom and the book. I don't know the artist, Greg Mitchell, but he did a great job. Well done, Greg.

I'M A CENTRIST?

I had an interesting (and very short) political quiz forwarded to me recently. It said I'm a Centrist:

Centrists favor selective government intervention and emphasize what they commonly describe as "practical solutions" to current problems. They tend to keep an open mind on political issues. Many centrists feel that government serves as a check on excessive liberty.

Here's another forwarded link that's great for a laugh. I still crack up when the little girl says "...and not get paid a God damn dime for any of it!"

YA BABY!

Check this out! It's the "International Frog of Mystery." An Austin Powers frog... absolutely brilliant.
Also, a special note to Geoff. Hang in there, buddy.

UP FROM THE DEPTHS

Run! Run for you lives! It's "Frogzilla!" This is one big, bad frog. Check out those teeth and claws.

DAVE TV

My frog and I were on the evening news on Tuesday. Every week, Leapfrog reporter, Alice Welsh spotlights several frogs and their creators. Fortunately for me, they edited my interview down to one (and probably the only) statement where I didn't ramble on, or just completely babble. I'm a firm believer that the safest place to be is BEHIND the camera.

I just learned that Darrell Breakiron died in a tragic skydiving accident on Sunday. According to the article, he was pushed off course by a sudden gust of wind and slammed into a telephone pole, sheering it off.

I just met Darrell, about a month ago. My dad and I stopped by his jewelry store to see the Leapfrog jewelry he had been working on. He was extremely friendly, and very enthusiastic about his work.

I heard about this accident on Sunday night, but I didn't think it was the same Darrell I met, because to me, he didn't look anywhere near 51 years old.

As someone who has gone skydiving, it's pretty chilling to think that an accident like this can happen, especially considering that he was a skydiving instructor with over 2000 jumps.

My sincerest condolences go out to his family.

4TH OF JULY

Just in time for the 4th of July, my friends Eric and Brian unveiled their "Frog on Liberty" this past Friday. The frog was cosponsored by Emerson-Gridley Elementary School and Meridian. The school put on a very nice unveiling ceremony and the students seemed really excited and proud of their frog.

Good job guys! "You did preeeeeety good!" [inside joke]

BACK TO THE ZOO

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours at the zoo. This was especially fun since my frog (Croak-A-Dot) was there to greet me at the gate.

Trust me, this gorilla is only sleeping. I could see his chest moving.

Tomorrow will be a good day. The Meridian frog will be unveiled, and believe me, it's beautiful. Also, something special is happening concerning my frog. Stay tuned.
