LOOKING FOR LIZARDS
Things in Florida are going well. I'm almost completely settled in and I'm getting into a regular routine here. I've started a new design job and I'm just waiting for school to start in about seven weeks. School will last 12 months and I'll have the option to take an additional three month course when the year is up. It's not going to be easy to juggle work and school, but I'm used to working long hours, so I'm sure it will all work out.
The location here is great. I live very close to all kinds of shopping and restaurants, and work and school are only about 10 minutes away. I'm definitely not having to fill my gas tank very often. The school is on the property of Universal Studios and I'm told that I'll be getting a free pass to the Universal parks for the whole year. That will be great! I can just picture it now, I'll take a lunch break from school and go ride a roller coaster! Not a bad deal.
I think I'm definitely getting used to this Florida weather. Now that Wilma is long gone, it's really been nice here. However, I think the hurricane may have taken three adorable little geckos who lived under my stairs. Every time I walked in or out, they'd be standing on the steps like they owned the place. As soon as I got close, the quick little buggers would scamper away. I was just starting to think of names for the little guys and then the hurricane hit. Sadly, I haven't seen them since. Rest in peace, little buddies. I hope you're sitting on a big stair step in the sky.
Speaking of lizards, I've been in Florida for a whole month now, and I still haven't seen an alligator. This is something I'm really looking forward to. Sure, I've seen gators at a zoo before, but I want to see a real alligator in the wild. Just like the deer back north, I know they're here, but we just don't see them every day. Well, I'll just have to keep looking.
