MERRY CHRISTMAS
What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time I commented on how I rarely heard anyone saying "Merry Christmas." This year it feels like it's being forced down our throats, almost to the point of "Merry Christmas, Dammit!" I don't have the time or the energy to rant this year, so all I will say is let's all just relax and enjoy whatever it is you celebrate.
This weekend I'll be heading to Washington to spend Christmas with my family. I've never flown on a major holiday, so this will definitely be a new and probably crazy experience. Time will be tight there, but I'm going to try and meet up with as much of the old gang as possible. I'm really looking forward to it. I've traveled so much in the last two years, that it feels strange to have been in the same place for over two months now.
On Sunday I got to go to Disney World which was a hell of a good time. We went to Animal Kingdom first and then MGM in the evening. We really had a great time. I have lots of photos to post but that will have to wait until another time. For now, look at how Disney decorates for the holidays. Wow, I was blown away. What these photos don't show is the fake snow (some kind of bubble solution) that's falling from the sky. That was a really nice touch.
I heard two good quotes this week:
"Carlos is here to fix the bidet."
"This is gonna be like trying to cram 100 pounds of shit into a five pound bag."
I've got way too much to do before I leave, and so this is most likely the last time I'll post anything until I get back. Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc., etc., etc. Enjoy the time with your family and friends and don't get caught up in the hype.

TIME IS TICKING
Thanks to Kori for this one. There's a new and improved site where you can create yourself as a South Park character. Check it out here. Speaking of cool sites, I'm about 2 years too late in discovering this, but check out the world's tallest virtual building.
Time is flying by. It just hit me that Christmas is only a week away, and school starts in two weeks. Damn, it seems like just a week ago I was enjoying my Thanksgiving pizza. Well, since there isn't much time left before life gets terribly busy for me, today I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

UPDATE: Something is wonky with my e-mail. I know of at least three messages in the last week that have been sent to me, or I've sent out, that have bounced back. I don't know what the problem is, but if you're one of the bouncees, please keep trying. Funny how spam still gets through to me with no problem.

SURROUNDED BY YELLOW
The painting at the apartment complex continues. The building directly across from me has been painted a different shade of yellow. This one has more green in it and is a little more pale. It's still ugly as hell, but it's better than the the first building they painted. Now I'm just waiting to see what yellow treatment my building will get. Much to my surprise, I've gotten feedback that some of you actually like the change to yellow. Yikes! You're scaring me!
Yesterday's quote of the day:
"Aqua is the new cyan." -DS

Over the weekend I got the news that my favorite comedian, Richard Pryor died. He hasn't been himself for a long, long time. It's good to know that his suffering is over. Rest well, Richard.

FLORIDA YELLOW
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really like my new apartment. It's very tasteful both inside and out.
In art school, we studied color theory at length. "Color Isolation" is exactly what it sounds like. In the photo of my place above, the colors of the bricks, the roof, the railings and the siding all complement each other. The same goes for the grass, bushes and the trees. But then there's that red truck that really stands out because there's no other red in the photo anywhere. That's color isolation and it will kill any composition.
Now, look at what's happening! Someone please pass the barf bag! The apartment complex that I'm in is under new management. It literally happened overnight last week when sometime during the night a note was stuck to my door saying that the management company that I signed the lease with was out, and another one was in. Many of the apartments in this area have been "going condo" and I suspect the same thing will happen here. Within a week of taking over, the new management company has decided to paint all of the buildings, and damn if they didn't pick a really bright-ass yellow. This color is good for a sports car or maybe a block of cheese, but for my taste, that's not a good building color. At least any aircraft flying overhead will be able to spot us easily. And to think that today is one of the first overcast days we've had in a long time. What will this look like when the bright Florida sun comes out? Excuse me while I go get a new pair of sunglasses.

There is a 10 minute trailer for Narnia on the UK Disney site! The movie looks great, and it appears that the soundtrack is going to be equally as good.
Also today is our old friend Geoff's birthday! Happy birthday, amigo!

HAPPY (BELATED) THANKSGIVING
How cool is this? It isn't a real plane crash. It's actually part of a miniature golf course here in Orlando, and anyone who knows me knows I love a good zebra paint job. And speaking of plane crashes, I know I'm a little late here, but in the past couple of weeks, I just started watching "LOST" and now I know what all the buzz is about. Ever since Buffy and Angel went off the air, there really haven't been any shows that I make any kind of effort to watch regularly. So, I'm using Netflix to catch up on season one, and suddenly TV seems fun again.
Well, I'm now less than a month away from school starting. I've been very busy trying to get every last little thing off of my to-do list before January. Between work and school, I'm going to have next to no free time in 2006.
I want to send a big long distance hug to Kori who's doctor is a complete rat hole! To Hell with her, Kori.
Also, this is weeks over due, but congratulations to my pals at Tohubohu Productions who just competed in the National Film Challenge with their short film "Homemade Hero." The results are not in yet, but regardless of the outcome, I think they did great job. Good going, kids!
